Convertible snaps on retract

Default Convertible snaps on retract
I have a new 2002 S2000. When I retract the top, it hesitates
in mid travel then snaps back before retracting all the way. Is this
normal, or should it retract smoothly the whole way?

Most I've seen are fairly smooth, but still have a bit of that snap to them. If yours is a bit extreme, maybe the joints aren't greased properly?
