My '06 DBW engine took a crap and I bought an '05 drive by cable engine as a replacement. The '05 engine is in and I've swapped out the trigger wheels, intake manifold, and valve cover. I started it up and it sounded like I had an exhaust leak. It turns out that I didn't account for the hole left from not having a secondary air valve.
What's the best way to get an '06 DBW intake manifold to work on an '05 drive by cable head? It seems like this channel for the secondary air valve is my last hurdle, but I may be overlooking more.
Is it just a matter of plugging up this hole?
Here's a photo of the '05 intake manifold next to the installed '06. My thumb is next to a secondary air valve bolt and my pointer is showing the blank space in the '06 cars where that bolt would go.
I just used a short extension on a deep socket, no universal joint required. The best way of eliminating this system is tapping the EGR holes on the exhaust side of the head after removing the metal cover and then putting in set screws with JB weld on them. This is what I did when I did not have an 06+ head.
