corner balance? all suspension is different... how to fix.

hey everyone,
i have BC racing BR full coils all around. my car is sitting lower on the right side than it is on the left. i had all the suspension put on by a shop and adjusted to street race spec? this is what they said. today i put it up on the lift, and the right side is significantly higher than the left.
the threads on the coils go up about 3in. more on passenger side, but every single corner of the car is different setting.
i was wondering if it is worth getting a corner balance, to fix all of this.. i am always on the street, can't really afford the track right now.
and if anyone can provide me with approximate or ideal specs at least. i would like a performance setup, dampening and spring stiffness.

car is sitting on STOCK AP1 wheels, 205/55R16 and 225/50R16

going out to measure all four corners,
--clearance from ground FL FR RL RR (AT FRAME)
--FENDER TO GROUND (ALL SIDES)
--SPRING HEIGHT (ALL FOUR)
--distance from spring to bottom of coil.
i'll also try to post pics.

if anyone can help with what other measurements i'd need it'd be great! thanks!

Since this is a daily driver, just set the ride height yourself to where the delta at each corner is minimal. Go for an alignment afterwards and call it a day

unless you have a set of scales itll be a hard task to be accurate. if you raise the ride height on the left front itll decrease the weight on the right front and left rear and increase the weight on the right rear. which you cant tell unless you have scales. you can usually find a cheap set for around 600usd used or find a shop to help you out. but other than "guessing" by measuring and setting it up that way thats about it. and like 99SH said get an alignment done and you should be good. i'm a perfectionist so i'd go the scale route plus if you buy a set of scales you can rent them to people at the tracks and autoX's and just say you want to recoup the cost of them lol. goodluck

set it to the height that you want and corner balance

using someone else's measurements will get close, but you need take into account if the surface is level

I had my car balanced and I had it close to the ride height I wanted, however there was. 200 pound difference on he cross weights, but visually the car looked even

Visually you won't see the effect of a corner balance. When I had my car done it was less then 40lbs cross weight, with in 10lbs across the nose and 50.9% with me in it... To adjust that slight difference adding 2lbs of air in the rear tire did it...but changed the front weight to be further apart.

If a car is visually level you are talking maybe one full turn on the shock to make a drastic change in corner weight.

I would figure out how the shop adjusted your car... From what you are describing it almost sounds like the adjusted the spring perch height, not the shock height... That is a big no no unless you are going for a "hella flush" look and need more drop.... and even then :shakeshead:

Yep. Any performance benefit from a corner balance would be lost anyway once a passenger got in.

I thought it was more than worth it. The passenger weight issue only applies if you track the car with a passenger (and you had it balanced for your weight alone) - and then it has a minimal effect (unless your passenger is on the tubby side).

My lovely wife is on the tiny side and she never upsets the balance of the car - corner balanced or not.

My car sits perfect. KW V3, lowered at ~1.5" all the way around, and corner balanced. The car is a dream on the street and highway - and much better than stock on the track. The KW V3s are not the ultimate track coil over, but that's not why I bought them. I chose them for the improvement in ride quality for street driving, while providing a very noticeable improvement at the ragged edge.

I had my S2000 corner balanced and aligned at the same time. S&R Performance in Tampa did the KW install, corner balance and alignment. Outstanding and expert service - worth every penny (and then some).
