Countersinking OEM knob
Not sure if this is incorrectly posted, maybe UTH forum.
I'm looking for a thread that someone posted about boring/countersinking their existing OEM shift knob w/ pics. I ran across it once, but can't locate it again. Does anyone know what thread I'm talking about?
Or does anyone have any experience in this?

Couldn't find the thread you're referring to in Search, but I will say that I installed a Voodoo shift knob from Rick last week and it's the sweetest mod I've done to the car yet.
The Voodoo knob is already countersunk to lower the knob height and it's round shape makes for a comfortable hold. There is no "wrong" to grab the knob. It strikes me as a much easier solution than boring out the stock knob.
Having said that... if you still want to lower the stock knob, feel free. You'll need a drill press to bore out some additional depth, and it looks like a 3/8" drill bit, but measure the shift shaft (say THAT 5 times fast!) to be sure.

i got you
i tried this and its really nice...i really didnt like the shape of the voodoo knob cus i felt it was too bulky so this was a nice compromise for me...also, there wasnt any need for a drill press if you have steady hands and a way to keep the knob from moving...and you only drill about a quarter way down depending on how low you cut the shifter and how low you want it...
