Crazy startup sound after baffle install
So I finally got the car fired up after installing my baffle. I primed the filter but not entirely primed (just saturated the media with like .5qt). I DID NOT physically prime the engine, hindsight I think I should have and it was stupid to not. It made a god awful sound the first 2 seconds after startup like crazy nasty knock except at a higher rpm. I am thinking this could have been the valve train or something drained from oil while sitting with the pan off or perhaps the Pump since possibly it totally drained while sitting with the pan off. In any case I guess it is too late now, but any concerns from doing this?

Are you sure it wasn't the Bendix pin on the starter, known to stick on ap2 models and they make a high pitch sound.

No I have heard that sound before and this was not that. Although it actually sounded more like a TCT so I think it was likely that due to a momentary loss in oil pressure. Also the oil light flashed which it generally does not do after a oil change, so I am sure pressure was low longer than normal. I think I will just keep an eye on things but I can't imagine that short moment was catastrophic

The motor started with no oil pressure. The sound you heard was timing chain rattle as tct did not have any pressure at first. This didn't cause any problems with the timing chain or tct. They are fine.
The engine bearings still had a coating of oil from the last time engine was started, so worst case they took a mild hit of accelerated wear for a second or two (but probably the coating of oil was enough to protect them until pressure built). Nothing to really worry about here.
If you were really paranoid, get oil sample and send for analysis. Look for excessive wear particles.

I see, now I understand.
Your engine btw, is toast now
(J/K)
As car Analogy said: it still had a coat of oil everywhere, enough to protect before the replacement came rushing in, send by the oil pump.
Oil analysis typicaly don't show bigger wear particles though.
So don't rely on a UOA (sorry if that makes you worrie again)
