Default Cruise On/Off Switch Removal

I noticed even though my cruise control is working perfectly as designed, the LED light on the On/Off switch (left of steering wheel on dash) does not illuminate when On. I was going to replace it.
Does that switch simply pop out? Is there a trick to that? Or, do I have to pull the entire dash to get it out?

Not sure - but these might be some help if you do have to pull everything apart. Might consider living with it.

Thanks
I had the instrument cluster out yesterday actually - had to replace a bulb in the cluster. I just don't want to pull it all apart again if I don't have to.. I can't remember if that LED in the cruise On/Off switch has ever worked since I had the car but I only just noticed today when I was testing that everything was working after I put it all back together. The cruise functions perfectly and the switch does in fact turn it on and off. Maybe I'll just live with it as is...

Are you talking about the mechanical switch on the left side (circled in blue)? You can just gently pull / pry it out of the dash.

<<<BUMP>>> I just couldn't resist bumping this 2 year old post again. Well i just replaced a MY2000 with a MY2004 and noticed this cruise control module was not lit up and needed some TLC. Found out 1) the module at the current time is back-ordered with Honda. 2)There appears to be a like-for like switch replacement through Autozone website if you do a search.

Since my cruise control module and steering wheel buttons work, i realized it was probably just the bulbs. There are 2, one green and one amber/brown looking one. Anyway i tried prying it out and found it was much easier using two hands. Basically open the driver's door on my knees with my left arm curled under the dash, and right arm at the bottom of the switch, just use two fingers on each side of the switch. Push with two fingers from behind the dash, and push up and pull out at the bottom of the front of the switch, and it eventually will click out. The Service manual shows it out but just states "carefully pry it out of the instrument panel". I was really afraid of scratching something. Youtube showed a Civic with it out, but no one really said the best way to remove it. I saw one person say push the sides, but it's not the sides it's the top and bottom that wedge the switch in. Once you get it out, just unplug the harness, and replace the two bulbs with a slight turn using a small flat headed screwdriver. Reverse the installation to put it back in. Voila!

I forget. Is cruise control On by default like VSA? Mild curiosity as I don't recall ever turning the dash switch Off.

You have to turn it on and off, if you leave it in the on position
after you shut the car down it will be on when you start the car.

Thanks. I wish my other car worked that way too.
