Cusco STB with Comptech CAI without Spacers
I finally received the spacers I ordered from Tech2Drew today, and decided to go ahead and tackle the task of getting the Cusco STB over my Comptech CAI. I knew I was going to have to cut something, and I had ordered the 3mm spacers just in case.
First of all, I have heard that the Comptech CAI box is in its 3rd generation and mine is the latest one. Drew told me he needed the spacers to clear his - even with cutting (Drew is Super Charged by the way).
I did not take the best pictures to help describe everything - sorry - I just wanted to get it done!
So here we go:
The tools

I had some issues with the CF box top coming loose after *many heavy accelerations* (and lost some screws), so I used velcro to make sure the top never came all the way off

1. Removed the CF box top of course.
2. I did not have a dremmel, so I broke out a small drill bit and made three tiny holes on the back side of the box. Then used a cerated knife to cut the plastic. I think cutting a hole twice the size of the STB's side bolt should be sufficient, but I think I went about three times bigger by mistake
The final hole in the Comptech CAI should be about the size of a quarter to help with the install of the STB.
3. Install the STB
4. The hardest part was lining the CF Comptech CAI box top back up, but that box is tight and secure now - way moreso than it was before
You can see here that I cut too far down
at least it isn't all that noticeable.

How well the box top and the STB line up

And the finished product:

If anyone was wondering what kind of clearance the Cusco CF wrapped STB gets with a Mugen hood (because we all know there are so many of us with this combination out there
).
