It has not been done yet due to the lack of parts on the market yet, but in time 300 all motor hp will be possible with the k series engine

K20a.org post
Doubtful ... at least not in a streetable form.

I've spoken with the folks at Toda, and while they've had great results with performance upgrades with the K series motor - they believe the F20 and 22C series motors are much better and have a lot more untapped potential.
The problem with the F series motor is that the production run is so limited that the company can't financially justify spending as much R&D money on the S2000 as they'd want to.
There are so many more K series motors on the road that a much larger portion of their R&D goes to there.
The F series has a much stronger lower end and higher quality of build.
The bottom line is improvements for the F20 and 22C motors will be much slower in development than mass produced engines such as the K series, and much more expensive in the long run.
As the Toda rep put it: The K series is a passenger car motor design ... used in a broad range of automotive applications. It's a fantastic design, but not near the engine the F20 and 22C are. The F20 and 22C are purpose built high performance powerplants.

On a side note, Toda recommends the use of F20C retainers as a K series upgrade.
The retainers in the F20C have proved to be one of it's very few 'weaknesses'.
Food for thought.

So you want the S2000 transmission to work with a K series motor? is it because the S2000 tranny is a 6 speed?

this makes sense to me. i know the K20 is detuned from the factory far more than the S2000 is. but I see what they mean about a purpose built hand built engine, vs a mass produced engine.
