Default Cv joint tsb 02-063 alternative.

My 02 s2000 rear end has been vibrating under acceleration. and after some research i figured it was the pitting of the cv joint housing. (many threads about that) I went to the dealership to inquire about this, and they wanted $1400 for the job. i thought that was a joke so i figured id do it myself. THe joint housing were $317 a piece, and the bands were $9 a piece. ridiculous! thats almost $700 in parts! So i decided to look for whole cv axle half shafts. No body had them, i mean nobody, but kragen! i got both cv axles for for a total of $175 + core, re'maned ofcouse. The labor took me 1.5 hours with a friend. i suggest replacing the whole axle than just doing the joint housing. less work. and alot cheaper! and it cured my rear end vibration problem.

thats just my .02

There are many threads about this problem and IIRC most suggest to swap them left/right.
No cost at all exept time and fresh CV grease.
The OEM bands can be reused too.

just to be clear, you bought new axles and CV joint housing? for 175?

not sure exactly what you purchased.

i figure my original cv joint housing will last me a long time, i'm already swapped left to right. when/if this pits...i will put in a spacer. when if/that pits, i will swap left to right with the spacer. if when that pits, i will put another spacer. if when that pits, i will swap left and right.

lol.

i just purchased two new complete remanufactured left and right axle assemblies for 175 at kragen. so instead of swapping sides or getting new cv joint housings. i just purchased the whole complete half shaft. $94 for the left one and $75 for the right one.
