I don't change the transmission fluid every 2,500 miles, it was 2,500 since the last change when the problem started ~

Time to start looking ~ Thanks for the replies.

I am planning to rebuild my '04 tranny soon, and cost for parts and tools is about equal to buying a used (unknown condition) tranny. At least when I am done building the tranny I will know it's condition is as good as new.

OK - after have the dealer install a new transmission, they are now saying my transmission is fine, and I have an engine problem. This is after telling me my transmission needed an entire rebuild. I told them to put it back together the way it was when I brought it in, as I was picking it up. Told the dealer I wasn't paying for their training either - they never debated the -0- bill. The also said they pulled my engine pan and my #3 and #4 crank bearing were going bad, but they had a used (85k miles) for only 5 grand. Yea, right.

I am not a transmission guy, and that's why it went to the dealer. engines are a different matter.

Long story short, the only thing wrong are my thrust bearings are worn, allowing a slight play forward / back on the crank. I ordered a bearing kit, and as soon as it's in I'm replacing the crank, thrust, and rod bearings. Luckily I can do all this from under the car without pulling the engine. Just waiting on my bearing kit to arrive.

Yes, factory clutch. This is the second one though. The first 80,000 miles were as a DD in Atlanta. Come to think of it, a lot of time I never got above 3rd gear going home, LOL. LOTS of shifting during the 5pm commutes.

And yes, dealer was a rip-off. I ended up paying the diagnostic fee - that was all. They lost that just in the parts / labor taking out and reinstalling a transmission 2x.
