Diff - LSD diff not working
Hi Everyone,
This is my first post so hopefully it's in the right place.
I've got a s2000 that's done 98k miles, is a year 2000 model and has done a few track days recently. I always get it serviced but haven't touched the diff since buying it 5 years ago.
The diff has now started whining and it's gets unbearably loud at about 45mph. The strange thing is the LSD seems to have stopped working and it now seems to act like a normal diff. It will now spin up the inside wheel rather than function as normal.
I've been told that technically that shouldn't be possible. Does anyone have any ideas on what the issue could be, is it time to change the oil, have a look at upgraded internals or replace it all together?
Thanks for any help.
Tom

How many miles in the last 5 years?
Differential service schedule is every 30,000 miles under normal service and 15,000 miles under severe use. I consider "track days" a form of severe service.

It has a Torsen torque sharing differential, which will seem like an open diff under many situations. Should read up on it.

If you want to upgrade, look up Puddymod on this forum. He can sell you a beefed up diff at a very good price. He has solutions from mild to wild.
