i need to buy a set of tools. anyone have a set they would recommend? I went to sears and bought a set of 137 pieces but someone told me that i wouldn't need most of them. plus, i still need a 23mm for the diff change. i need to change all the fluids this monday.
Just add the pieces to the basic set you just got. You'll need the following:

23mm box end wrench
24mm socket
17mm socket (might have in basic set)
3/8 drive wratchet handle (for tranny drain plug - but you should have that already)
jack
jackstands

These will allow you to do the motor oil, tranny and diff fluid changes. You'll need more for brake and clutch fluids.

I like the Craftsman products. Not too pricey and the lifetime gaurantee is nice.

No, but take extra care not to over torque the bolts. The spec is only 29 or 33 ft/lbs for them which isn't much at all. The thread can be delicate and we just don't want you to strip anything.

BTW Sears has a beam type torque wrench for around $25, or you can get the clicker type for about $80. I bought a cheapo clicker one from harbor freight and it works like a champ.

If you plan on doing your brakes, you'll REALLY want to use one for the lug nuts at least, so you might as well get it now.

I really only use a torque wrench for the wheel lug nuts. I've done the others soooo many times that I know it by feel.

Pep boys had the fluid pump for $15 and the 23mm bolt for $6.
What did you get a new bolt for? Is the new one magnetic too?

Yes, I've put that in twice now.
