The only tough part of the differential fluid change is getting the fluid back in! I have some ramps made for lower cars. I backed the car on to the ramps, this helped immensely!

So, maybe you can look in your manual for the torque specs, socket size to make sure you have the correct tools on hand, etc. Others can look in here.

It's pretty much impossible to get a torque wrench on the fill bolt. I think all the drain bolts (oil, tranny, diff) are torqued to about 30ft/lbs. The fill bolt on the diff I just snugged up to what it felt like when I removed it.

Oh yeah, that dang 23mm box end wrench from Sears was $16.99! I figured that was better than paying the $175 my local independent Honda mechanic wanted to charge me to change the tranny and diff fluid. The Trans was so easy I'll probably do it every other oil change. The diff wasn't that tough, but I need to get a better method of getting the fluid back in there, maybe a fluid pump.

175 for both???? Geez what a rip. Both are simple to do.

I am stock height and I can do it without a jack.
You can access the bolts comfortably without raising the car? Damn.

The odometer.

The stuff that came out of mine at 30k miles was shocking....

I would change it without question if you have never done so.

Any one use the gear oil by sta-lube? I went to Robertson honda and picked up the washers and ask what oil I need to replace the Diff and he gave me what his dealer uses and it's by sta-lube SAE 80W90 Gear Oil> is this the correct one?
