DIY on Valve retainers

I have searched everywhere and can't find a DIY thread on valve retainers. I've done a valve adjustment before but would like to know the additional steps to replacing all of the intake retainers. Thanks

It's a pretty big DIY.

The proper way to do it is with the head removed:

There are ways of doing it using a pressure line into the spark plug hole to hold the valves up. Just be bloody careful.
