Default Does Air Intake System Affect Mileage?

Just bought a K&N PIPK )gen2) air intake. It is supposed to increase power by 9 hp.

Will this affect my mileage?

you will get less mileage if you use your right foot more.

It will have no effect whatsoever.

Aftermarket air intakes do help create a bit more hp but nothing spectacular.. They do also help with your gas mileage despite what was said above. I'm getting only 7-10 miles more out of a full tank compared to when I had my stock airbox and drop in K&N filter.

The increase is there, but very small.

One thing I will say that it helped with was the heatsoak that the stock box suffers from.

Mine dropped with my CAI. However it wasn't due the CAI. It was from WOT.

As always with intakes, gains are negligible. Your driving style affects mileage MUCH more.

keep in mind guys, there are incredibly restrictive intakes out there on other cars. If you look at the system on our s2k's they are similar to the k&n setup, long smooth hose entry, large cone filter. Main reason i got the FIPK is because of the reusable, better flowing material used in the filter

The one and only reason I got a intake (PRM) was for the sound, I now lose about 40 miles a tank cause I find myself hotting VTEC more often (it sounds nasty with the PRM)

there is a theory that says with CAI mre air gets into the engine - ECU adds more fuel to keep the AFR.
this makes sense to me...
