Default Does the ECU contain a history of error codes?

Hi,

I was wondering if the ECU holds a history of errors? I've recently encountered a CEL that rarely appears and does not reappear if the car is turned off and back on.
Things i have recently done to the car.

VTEC solenoid gasket including internal (Kranken Auto kit has geniune oem seal for the block side).
Replaced TCT with Ballade TCT
Replaced Oil + Filter with PCX
Diff Oil
Transmission Oil

After the above was done no issues. Two weekends later I went to a track day and had no issues. Then the day after the CEL appear after a few minutes of street driving. (Cold Start)
It reappeared last night again after a few minuted of street driving (somewhat warm start). Tested VTEC engagement whilst CEL is on - all OK.

My car is an AUS model so it does not have ODBII. I think i need the Honda Diagnostic thing-a-majig.

Thought i would check in here before i went to a dealer service centre.

Thanks.

i don't believe it is stored.

i've had cel's come and go also, and when i was able to catch the cel and get the code, it was related to timing. but it went away on it's own and i've never seen it since...it's been over 100,000 miles.

i'm attribute it to the sensors being drunk.

The codes will be stored for approximately 40 cycles. It takes an upper level scanner to access history codes.

So theoretically a Honda Dealer / Service Centre can tell me what code has been triggered. I'll just call ahead to confirm they have the appropriate scanner.

Thanks!

You don't note AP1 or AP2. OZ Ap2 has an OBDII port for Australian export while AP1 does not. If you have an AP1 you will need a Data Link Connector (DLC) adapter to gather what are known as "pending codes" in OBDII. There is a connector up under the dash which has a rubber cover. This is where to plug in the DTC if AP1. An Australian dealer should have both adapter and code reader.

Update:

Finally got the code read after many hassles with trying to get dealers to respond. Found a mechanic near me who could do it.

Secondary 02 Sensor out of spec.

I already purchased new Denso primary and secondary sensors suspecting that this was the issue but i didn't buy a new cat. The cat is most likely the original which is from 2001... I should replace it shouldn't i? I've gone through the big thread and as i understand, a berk HFC 63mm is the best replacement for a stock engine?

FWIW replacing the cat fixed that code in my Miata but an exhaust leak caused the same in an RSX. Replacing the primary sensor, cat, and secondary was require to fix that code in an integra I owned. Good luck.
