Default Drivetrain issues

Hey all, whatsup. Now we all know that our drivetrain has some play in it right? You know that sound it makes when the car is off and you rotate the drivetrain with your hands? It's like a thump noise. Well, today I went to the dealer for an oil change, and told them about a problem I was having. That thump noise is there all the time when the car is driving and there is a very noticeable moaning/humming sound coming from the car whenever it's moving. The car could be in or out of gear and it will still make the noise. The hum gets louder as I let off the gas, and seems to get more high pitched the more I speed up in each gear. They lifted the car and ran the car in first gear at idle speed. The thumping sound seemed like it was comiing from inside the transmission. I can also make the sound change while using the clutch. I was told that they couldn't do anything since they don't know what the problem is. They are waiting for another S2k to come in to see if it makes the same sound. The technician did acknowledge though that the soound doesn'ty seem normal to him. I was told that whatever the problem, Honda will take care of it and thatI shouldn't worry about it. If it gets worse, they told me to just bring it in. Whether it does or not, both sounds were not there before, and both came at the same time. So I don't think there trying to give me the run around cause he said a few times that when the problem is found, Honda will fix it and it's not to worry about. Any help on what this might be?

sounds like you may have taken a few teeth off the pinion not uncommon for these cars. drivetrain noise tends to travel since its all metal on metal with low tollerences. the clutch may have been the first source to relieve the vibrations created. turn the rear wheel and see if it gets slightly harder to turn in some places. car has to be jacked up and in neutral. also drain the fluid and check the drain plug magnet it should be pretty clean. any metal chunks that are bigger then a light dust or any shiny silver flakes that makes you drain pan look like a stary night and you are pullin te diff good luck
