ECU replacement

ECU replacement
I have a Honda S2000 year 2000, manufactures Part# 37820-PCX-A02. What precautions do I have to take when replacing an OEM ECU? Is this procedure must be taken to a Honda dealer or mechanic with sophisticated OBDIi or is this a matter of plug and play! I see some ebay ad that includes ignition with immobilizer and key, is this necessary to replace when replacing with same yr and same part#? Appreciate input please!!!

You will get slightly better performance with an '02 - '03 and as I understand it you will have to get a dealer to normalize your immobilizer.
I use a Mugen ECU in my '00 and swap back to OEM to pass smog every two years and just do without immobilizer but you don't have that option with OEM.

Yep as stated, aside from the immobilizer thing, where you have to take your key to the dealer, or somewhere that provides that service, then you just hook up all the connectors in the wiring harness to the ECU.

Thanks for input, sounds like no choice but to take the car to a mechanic to have install it properly, once I find a OEM replacement. Any idea used OEM price? I like your input "cedelena" although I have 00" S2k may be I can look for 02" or 03" (OEM brand new calls for same part number for 00-03")
