my car has 8k miles on it and i already changed out the differential fluid TWICE....there were a lot of metal shavings and particles on the drain plug both times, especailly a lot during the first drain.

xviper makes a good suggestion, changing out the differential and transmission fluid once a year is a good idea. i just look at it as "cheap" insurance, we all know the transmission and differential can have problems in the future.

btw Mobil 1 75w90 is highly recommended by many board members(epecially myself), is readily available and about $8.50 a bottle which is not bad at all (IMO).

WHOA! My car has 75k on it and i dont know if the previous owner changed the differential fluid. I think tomorrow Ill do that, i would love to run LE however, i dont think you can buy that stuff over the counter. Whats gonna be a good substitute? I know the Honda stuff is ok (due to the posts) but for some reason id like to run something different. Any reqs? Sorry hope im not hijacking the thread

Nope you're not hijacking, I'm done with it

You should be able to find the mobil 1 75w90 gear oil around town pretty easily... although it only took around 4-5 days to get LE-607 from Rick's.

"What "Honda stuff" are you talking about? They do not market a 90w diff oil as far as anyone has ever posted.

Oh yea, thats right. Duh! I shouldve known that. Ok then, evenstill what is going to be some good stuff to pick up? Im not trying to indivdualize from my car, so in generally speaking what would be some good diff fluid to pick up? Didnt I read that mobil 1 makes some for it now?

If you don't want to wait for the LE, read what Pope replied with or you "could" go with what Honda Canada has recommended the dealers here to go with:
