elusive electrical problem

The green color is copper corroding, I can't think of any load situation where that would cause this. More likely water or electrolyte somehow getting inside the insulation.
[QUOTE=91crxSi,Nov 2 2010, 06:35 AM] yes, i have a new battery and alternator. the battery is fine. it has never been hot, no swelling, etc.
I will try the dielectric grease idea. thanks for that one...
about voltage fluctuating, i tested two cars (another s2k and an altima), while idling, and there was no fluctuation at all. I tried turning on headlights, and the radio, and they showed no fluctuation, while my car would drop voltage when I turned on the radio and headlights, but never getting as low as the two control cars.

ok. so the original alternator was definitely overcharging, with busted diodes. the first battery ended up bloating, and smoking, and did not explode, fortunately. So, i assume that the power wire to the alternator was overheated due to this, and the coating is now gone, which lead to the corrosion.
what should I coat the wire with?
i will definitely clean my grounds and add additional ones. i do not have a sound system. the car is MY01, so im sure it needs cleaning, and additional grounds should be nothing but beneficial.
THANKS ALOT GUYS!
