Enabling Rear Window Defogger
I just had a MY 2002 soft top installed in my MY 2000 to get rid of the fogged plastic rear window. The glass window is a big improvement. Now I would like to figure out how to make the defogger embedded in my new rear window work. As you might expect, my local dealer was no help. (He couldn't even provide detailed MY 2000 and MY 2002 electrical diagrams.) My (probably vain) hope is that a new heater control (rotary) switch, an electrical connector or two, and a length of wire will do the trick. Has anyone done this? If so, . . . HELP!
In case noone has done this and comes forward, this might help you get an idea. Go the the HandA sponsor site and look at the installation instructions for the hardtop. You'll notice that a relay must be plugged into the fuse panel under the dash to enable to wiring that goes down under the console cover. Then you'll see what others kinds of harnesses that are required and the switch too.
