Oh yeah! I forgot they did that. Yeah just grab a thicker piece of sheet for the flange and tap it. Easier route IMO.

I agree also, what size tp did you end up using and what what the thickness of the flange?

As a side note you can also reinforce the sub frame and run a strut-> subframe -> strut brace and have similar results. Mine seemed fine with it removed, and there is a LS7 autocross S2000 that is fairly successful without it in place. If I was doing TT again in my car I would do a X brace between the frame/towers with adjustable rod ends before I replaced it with a 2 inch tube.

Cant say much about 'impact zones' since my frame rails are chopped 5 inches from the spindle edge and I have no bumpers except a removable bash bar that mounts to my rad support, but yeah...
