If you have run the car low on oil it could also be a bad rod bearing or main bearing. If that's so, you have big problems. But this is only possible if you have run the car VERY low on oil.

Mine has developed this noise also. Only at idle and seems louder if you listen from the bottom or passenger side wheel well. Seems to be just another noise the S makes.

Ya David1 thats exactly where the clicking sound is on my car, right by the passenger side wheel well. That is where it seems to be the loudest.

I just heard a new civic SI making the same ticking sound. must be normal once there are some miles on the car.

Well after talkin to some memebrs and reading what everyone has posted. I come to realize that it is prolly just the normal valve sounds. My car feels fine and runs normally and has no check engine light or ruff idle. My friends car is also making the same sound and when he takes his car in for service ill take mine in too just to check up. Ill let you know how that goes.

My personal thoughts are that the ticking noise is the result of too much valve lash(clearance) on one or more cylinders. Once the clearance goes beyond spec, the valves get a little tap from the cam lobes at that instant when they are going from closed to just beginning to open. A knowledgable technician who cares to pay attention to detail might be able to adjust this noise away by carefully setting the lash.

Hey Legend, the only mod that has noticable performance gains are the gears which I haven't been able to really test yet cause the bearings are making some noise.
