I did hear some boiling when I turned the engine off. But it didn't last long. By the time I popped the hood and got out to open it, the bubbling had stopped. I just let the cold breeze blow on it for about 10 minutes and it cooled off to three bars. I'm going to go check my coolent level right now......... Okay, I looked at my resivour to see where the level was and there is just a hint of green at the bottom of the container. Waaaay below the minimum line. Looks like I need to buy some more today. Thanks for the heads up guys, that should fix the problem. I'll still check to see if my fans are working though.

OK. Let's hope that neither the head gasket nor the block deck was damaged - telltale will be cosumption of coolant and/or white smoke from the exhaust. If a cylinder head crack is near the spark plug, it would be wet and misfiring.

I hope there is onda coolant in there - high silicate coolant can damage the water pump and heads.

I've never changed it out so it must be Honda spec coolant. I've driven a car with a blown head gasket before and my S doesn't drive like that. I've never noticed it leaking either. Hmmm Sounds like a job for my bro-in-law Honda master tech to figure out.

Ron, maybe this is obvious but also check the coolant level in the radiator (not just the overflow bottle), you might need to top it off there too -- if the radiator is low then I'm not sure adding to the overflow bottle will do much. Maybe someone can confirm, but I've always heard that the cooling system won't pull in coolant from the overflow if it's really low...

I actually did check it. I pulled the cap off and it's full. Just the overflow bottle is low to empty.

Ok, stupid question, but this thread has gotten me worried. I noticed the other day that the reservoir just behind the driver's side headlight under the hood was pretty low on my car. Not to minimum, but definitely below max. Is that the coolant res.?

If so, what kind of coolant should I add to it and where can I get it?

EDIT:
I'm talking about the white tank in the lower right corner of this pic (not my car, just grabbed a pic from another thread). SORRY FOR SEMI-HIJACKING THE THREAD.
