Engine Trouble
A technical service bulletin (TSB), does not apply to every S2000 in production. TSB's are sent out to dealerships by Honda to explain in the instance OF A CUSTOMER claiming such problems how to go about repairing and explain how, why and where the problem originates! TSB's only apply to S2000 owners who fall under the manufacturers 36k or 3 year warranty! The spark plug situation is NOT A TSB. Its is a recall that has to be performed no matter what mileage nor year. Your vehicle should not be at a Chrysler dealership! It should be at a Honda dealership where you can alleviate the run around! Unless you had prior knowledge of the recall and ignored it, Honda should be footing the bill! The only way they can back out is if they have documentation of you receiving the recall and ignoring it! Either way good luck and keep us updated!
ok ok ok......I was not very clear in my posts.
The car was taken to a Honda dealership. The warranty I have through chrysler allows me to take it to a certified Honda dealership and have them submit the claim to the warranty company. The car has been at a Honda dealership the whole time.
Now as stated. Since this is a RECALL, I will be pursuing things with Honda. I am supposed to meet the District Rep tomorrow in person to discuss this. The recall was issued in June of 2002. I bought my car in 2003. I would therefore not receive notification of this recall. I have brought it to the Honda dealer multiple times for oil changes and either the 45,000 or 50,000 mile maintenance, whichever it was (so they cannot say I did not maintain the car correctly). I should have been notified on those numerous times of this recall, and I was NOT.
Once again, sorry for any confusion. Anytime I mention "dealer" or "dealership" in this thread I am referring to the Honda Dealership.
Any advice on talking to the District Rep tomorrow?
Any and all advice is appreciated.
Thanks guys!!!

Be politely confident. You have a pretty strong case. Hopefully it will go your way. If not just take it to the next level and let the district rep know that (in a nice way). Do some research and find out this next step before you go in so you have your act together. Honda has been great in some cases and bastards in others, I wish you the best of luck.
Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllll I called the service guy that I was dealing with to find out what time I should come up to meet with the district rep. He informed me that it was not necessary. He explained that Honda will be footing the entire bill

They are replacing everything. Including the block and cylinder head. I will fill you guys in with more details in a little while.
Thanks for all the help guys!
Thanks for all the help guys!
Hello every one. My engine blew up last night, the same exact way. I was driving last night, I wasn't speeding or anything, when I started to accelerate all of a sudden the knocking sound started, the CEL light came on, the car stalled a couple of times. The noise was really loud and heart breaking, so I decided to tow the car to the honda dealership close by. It had this strange smell coming out of the hood as well. The service department is really busy today so they may not get to it until monday. I had no other problems with this car, it's got 61,000 miles and everything is stock.

I was in there this morning to look at the car. They have the engine fully pulled apart. They had to order the parts and they are on the way. Although, when I got home there was a letter from the dealership regarding my "special parts" order was in. As for now they are saying they should have the job completed by Friday of this week. I am not expecting them to complete it by then, but if they can, all the better.
I was very surprised in the ease of getting Honda to cover this. I showed the service dept the recall, we found that it had not been done, they talked to the district rep and then informed me that the entire thing will be covered. So as Kevin stated it is pretty nice that I will be getting almost an entirely new engine.
Payoda, I recommend bringing in the recall and having them check to see if it has been done. If not, you can make a case. A couple things that I hope for in your case are that you brought the car in regularly to a Honda dealership for service and that you did not ruin the engine due to negligence. GOOD LUCK!!!
I'll keep everyone posted on the final outcome of this issue.
