Default Engine is under surgery right now....

A little back round info, I bent some valves with a mechanical over-rev. So right now my car is getting all new valves, upgraded valve springs, new retainers, new head gasket and they said they will machine the head. So now we know what is going on, I should get the car back on friday (so pumped!). What I wanna know is, will I need to let it break in like a new engine? I know I'm gonna wanna rip through the freeway when I get it back but don't want to damage anything. Let me know if it's ok vtec out of the box or if I should take it easy for xxx amount of miles.

Thanks in advance

I think you should try another over-rev right out of the box. Just to make sure thing are up to snuff.

Is there a dragstrip nearby?

LOL, I mean I thought that was implied that I would over rev it right away to feel it out. LOL j/k but does any one know?

Typically, the break-in miles are to seat the piston rings to the cylinder walls, and to "polish" the crankshaft bearings, but not the valve train. Mark Donahue (Penske Racing in 70's) used to have the heads of his race engines rebuilt but leave the bottom ends alone. This gave him better performance in his class, and was one of his "unfair advantages".

I'd ask Billman to confirm/deny this: He's the resident expert.
