Default eps light came on

Was installing my Ballade TCT tonight and that went well,...except when it started cranking and i realized the ratchet was still on the crank
Removed it and fired it up again and all was well except the eps light was and no power steering obviously. Did i bump something under the hood,...did the ratchet mess something up?
I did jack up one side of the car when i went under it to get socket that fell out the bottom.
Any tips are appreciated. I gotta autox in the morning
it is a 2004 with no mods motor wise

went and did some searching,...looks like the ratchet broke my airbox when it flung off and it broke some wires. Anyone know what those are for? there is 3 small ones that are split . ran a code reader. no codes show up

is it safe to drive? i assume i just dont have power steering now and thats all
Can just crimp those wires back together and be good?

wow that sucks. Yeah definitely try to splice them together and use some heat shrink if you can. or solder them if you can do it.

You can run without power steering I did it for a couple months when I removed my instrument cluster for an LED upgrade, I had no idea that the power steering was connected to the instrument cluster assembly. The EPS light may go away once you drive it for a short distance, if not then you will have to clear any stored codes.

solder and shrink-wrap. this is no place to half-ass an electrical repair.

or, replace the harness / sub-harness if not cost prohibitive.

good luck

My EPS light comes on from time to time.. Usually just shut the car off, turn the key and let the speedometer go all the way up and down then start and it goes away? Hardly a technical solution but I doubt anything you did made the EPS light come on as its a common issue.

it is a solid eps light, i dont know if that matters, i read they blink sometimes.
i thought maybe i popped a fuse but the big one under the hood still looks intact but my friend said he thinks it has seen better days as its not as "new" looking as the other big fuses.

All this searching has me confused. Do i need to do the jumping trick and read a code?? or should i just hop in and drive it? I am personally scared to move it whats the deal with it resetting after a short drive?? Would it magically just come back??

I fixed it today. Took it for a drive, it didnt go off. But i wasnt too mad because driving it without the eps is actually not that bad, the steering was heavier like a MINI steering which I actually like.
but, I kept trying.
Did the paperclip jump and did the steering torque sensor relearn. Light went off after about 3 tries at it(i couldnt remember when to turn the wheel and release and I couldnt read the screen shot on my phone fast enough).
Light is off, steering was back. ....havent drove it yet but I assume its good to go now.
