I have had a cold start engine hunting problem for years now. The car has been relegated to a weekend car because i have tried almost everything i can to fix it to no avail and eventually bought a BMW z4 coupe for a daily driver. The engine actually runs fine if you blip the throttle when you turn the ignition. A bit of smoke comes out the exhaust and then it drives very well.

The problem is, when i started it the other morning, the EPS light came on and the power steering was disengaged. I have tried pulling the fuzes, disconnecting the battery and no luck.

Does anyone have any ideas. The car is lowered with custom steering rack spacers.

also, I have checked with an OBD II reader and there are no fault codes.
