Default EPS Light on - No Power Steering - No fault code (DTC)

Hi guys,

I started my car a while ago after standing for a few months unused and the EPS light came on. The power steering has gone, but strangely there is no fault code. Had anyone had anything like this happen t them before?

I have removed all the fuzes with no luck. I have disconnected the battery several times with no luck. I have driven the car for a while and then restarted the car with no luck. Scratching my head now with very few ideas because of the lack of a DTC and i don't just want to start replacing parts.

I wonder if the connector to the EPS unit under the hood are not corroded. I would remove each of tthem and spray them with some contact cleaner and contact grease. Then reseat them and test again.

I had something similar, but not exactly the same. EPS light came on, no power steering. I turned the car off and then tried to start - no starter either. All the power in the car seemed to be fine and no dimming when I pushed the start button. Turned out one of the 2 cables coming off the positive battery terminal was loose. I reconnected it and everything went back to normal.

If you already did the EPS calibration sequence and tried every fuse related then do what stratocaster recomended, clean the conectors in the eps controller and the 2 in the eps steering rack. I had the same problem No Eps it only worked if I turn the steering to almost lock position creating load to the steering rack and at the same time pressing the start button and starting the car. I later found out the problem was the steering angle sensor, went to ebay bought a used low miles steering rack for $250 once instaled Eps light went off and power stering worked.

Heres the link for the Eps calibration procedure in case you need it.

Is the car stock or has it been modified?

Thanks everyone.

I just checked all the connectors to the eps and they were all immaculate. I popped them back and no luck. The battery terminal connections are all fine too.

I haven't done the eps calibration sequence so will give that a go next. Thanks.

The car is heavily modified, but that relates more to the suspension, wheels, body modifications and interior. The engine is stock as is the ems.

Sorry I don't understand the question?

I have been reading up about the Torque sensor neutral position relearn, and i distincly remember shorting pin 4 and 9 before and blowing a fuze. I later found out that the obdii port in the uk is very different to the US versions and i don't think we have the option to short those pins in the UK. I was using pins 4 and 9 before to try and bring up blink codes, (FYI: we don't have the option of blink codes in the UK)
