EPS unit repair
Hello folks,
Just wondering if there was anyone out the who has diagnosed and repaired any EPS unit (part # 39980-S2A-A02) issues. If so, I would appreciate any tips/pointers/etc.
I have a 2003 with just over 87k miles on it. Several months ago, my EPS started cutting off. A restart would bring it back. It finally got bad enough and I took it to the dealer to pull the codes (DTCs 32 & 34). They recommended the EPS be replaced, but, since the part is discontinued by Honda (thanks Honda) and there are no after market parts, best the could do is offer me one from a junkyard with no guarantee that it would work.
I found und one on eBay for $100, replaced it myself, and so far all is well.
That at leads me to the question above. What are folks with '00-03 S2000s doing? Seems very limited used parts are available and no new ones. Is anyone repairing them?
Thanks for any info!

I took it into Science of Speed, one of the few S2000 specialty garages and only about 30 miles away. The tech there described the work he did as just that, He took it off the car, cleaned up the lubrication grease, cleaned out the dirt and juck, regreased it and reinstalled it. It has been working fine ever since. SOS told me that these units are not rebuildable. If the cleaning and regreasing didn't work, then I would be looking at sourcing a used unit, as this is a discontinued part by Honda.
Ah, now I see my typo. I'm not familiar with regressing, either.
