I have a custom exhaust. It's a 3" with a vibrant muffler. It sounds mean as hell, but it's REALLY freakin loud. Girls ride in the car with me and always complain that they can't hear the radio/me talking/etc. 3" is NOT too big for an NA application, it has been dyno proven to make more peak hp than 70mm and also not lose any midrange power. Don't listen to this "not enough backpressure" nonsense. I would definitely say 3" is the limit though. Anything more and you will lose midrange power, anything less and you won't be making optimum peak hp.
