Default Failed smog - high NOx

I failed smog today. The guy said everything was okay except the NOx. I put my stock exhaust with stock cat after it has been sitting in storage for 2 years. I drove it around for only about 5 miles. I also left my J's Racing copy header. Could that be the issue?

Thanks.

i would drive the car more and get the cat really hot before you go in. Hotter cat is a more efficient cat. Do some WOT pulls right before.

Heat up the cat before you take it in for a smog.

I'll do that next. Is driving around for 15 mins enough?

It does not matter how long you drive it. What really matters is how hot the cat is during the dyno portion of the test.. The hotter the cat the lower your nox emissions reading will be..... good luck

Warm up the car and when you get to the smog station do NOT turn off your car.

Also ask the tech to warm up the car prior to running the test (Had my tech hold 4K rpm for about 45 secs prior to starting the test)
