Default Findings from a Pre Purchase Inspection

This is what I got after getting a PPI done. https://i.imgur.com/kjMwIt3.png

The car is a 2003 with 19,920 miles.

I can do the regular maintenance kind of stuff no problem but I have a couple of questions. The mechanic I talked to said there were no leaks but the valve cover gasket needed to be replaced because it was seeping (is the word I think he used). My other very big issue is the last on the list, the broken bolts on exhaust manifold. Is this a common issue? What does this mean and is this something I should be worried about?

The valve cover gasket is necessary because its seeping oil. About the broken bolt, Is it on the header or the cover? Either way, its no big deal. The previous onwer must of tighten too much and broke it. The header has studs not bolts. The cover has bolts. Have u check which one he replace?

Well you know that the previous owner has had things apart, whether or not that is a good thing depends on the explanation of the previous owner.

Not sure which. From what you said I would guess the cover. I am calling him in 30 minutes so I'll ask then.

A leaking valve cover gasket is no big deal. Its a simple, low risk job. Its an easy diy. There are a lot of things with the S that are unique, and can confuse mechanics that aren't famili with this car (results in they can do more harm than good). This is not one of those. Anyone that has done it on any other car can do it here. There is just one thing to be aware of, which is the seals on the spark plug openings. Just have to make sure they are positioned correctly before putting valve cover back on.

As others have stated, the exhaust manifold bolt is more a concern, raises questions as to why it was even touched to break it.

Think you have it the wrong way around

Important to monitor torque settings.

Honda uses threaded studs and nuts to secure the exhaust manifold -- intake too. Valve cover is held on by bolts.
