First Oil change..Advice please.
I am scheduled to have my first oil change on my 02 S2000. It has 2500 miles on it, but I have had the car since June.
Over the past several months I have had to add 1 quart of 10-30W oil to car. I remember when first got car..oil was nice and clear. Now it is much darker. Not sure if is because of different oil I added (mobil i think) or getting dirty.
Anyway..On Friday is 1st oil change. I assume they will put in Honda 10-30W oil. Oil change is free as I bought it from dealership and they cover first 2 changes.
Question I have is this..Do I change any other fluids? I have heard quite a bit about this Syncromesh tranny fluid. My shifts seem okay now..but wonder if could feel better. Any other fluids I should change? Anything else I should have checked then just regular oil change stuff?
Appreciate advice.

You shouldn't have used Mobil 1 to top off your oil when it was low. The OEM oil is definitely NOT synthetic. You should also not change your oil yet if you just have 2500 miles on it. Most people agree that you should leave the original oil in until about 3500 miles, since there is supposedly a special break-in additive in the original oil. Once you have reached 3500 miles, change it and with another conventional oil.
There is allot of debate about when you should make the switch to synthetic. The manual says 7500 miles, but many people say to wait until 10000 miles to switch, to allow the engine to break in fully.
The dark color of your current oil is not a bad thing, but you can change the oil filter without changing the oil, and just top the oil back off with a little bit of conventional oil.
With regards to your tranny oil, there really isn't any reason to change it if your tranny is shifting well, especially since it will be getting cold soon. GM Synchromesh may not work as well as Honda MTF when it is cold. I have GM Synchromesh in my gear box, but I was having allot of grinding, and it is freakin' hot here.

I used conventional Mobil 10-30W oil, not synthetic. I purposefully did not use conventional.
Are you sure I should not change oil even though has been 4 months? I drive the car moderately hard. Also want to have clean oil for winter. Worry about it sticking in the car for 5 months without being driven..as I will not be driving in the Winter in my S2000.

Your engine will use oil until the rings are seated. I would change your oil to rid it of that quart of synthetic; use a high quality non synthetic oil. When you have determined that your oil consumption has ceased, thats your que to switch to synthetic. This is likeky to be between 3500 and 8500 miles.

I just got my S2k. I currently have about 800 miles. Should I change my oil before I put it away for the winter??? I most likely will not hit 3500 miles brfore winter. What should I use if I should chang ethe oil.
