I haven't had issues reading the stick either. Check the oil once a week when I clean her up. Been where I needed to be everytime. Of course I have an AP2 that doesn't burn like the AP1's.

And I'll second the difficulty with the diff bolts. Had to also buy a special wrench to get the Fill bolt off. Couldn't torque it to spec with a torque wrench, so I just tightened it to what I thought was appropriate. Kept an eye on the diff to make sure there were no leaks.

Well, I've only checked about 40-50 different cars throughout my life, not really a noob, but not a mechanic either. The S2000 is one of the hardest to read.

maybe because you have an ap1 that burns on and requires constant checking. i guess i only check mine before and after every oil change. never need to do any in between has it never burned enough oil to notice

Always oil the gasket on the new oil filter which makes it less likely for the gasket to stick the next time you change oil filter.

Strike 2. I have an AP2 and the same issue exists. The problem is that you need to check several times to get a proper reading. Oil seems to reside in the tube and gives a false reading if you're not careful.

Like you said it's easy to check. No reason not to do so after every gas fill. Never needed to != never will need to.

I check my oil every morning before i start my car for a good easy cold reading. If you're having problems reading the dip stick, try to do it when the car is completely cold or before the first start up of the day. I find it easier to read then when the car has already been driven.
