Fluid change intervals
hi guys... i had my tranny and diff fluids done at 62K. Im at 78K now. Time to change?? i read around and saw some people do the change after 10k miles and some say its a waste to do it that soon. Any thoughts??
UOA is the definitive way to answer your question. Other than that, you need to decide based on how your car feels/performs and that's directly influenced by how you drive it and the shape that your car is in. If you just want opinions you can search the existing threads. If you want the maintenance schedule it's also available via search or your manuals. I change mine every 15K FWIW.
If you ask 10 ppl,you will likely get 10 diff answers.
Here’s what I do to all our 4 cars. I’m not in any way suggesting you do the same:
Oil,Filter,clutch fluid,brake fluid,clean air filter =4-5k miles
Coolant,PCV =every 2 yrs
Trans,Diff & PS fluid=15k miles or once a yr.
Combined, all 4 cars( oldest is 16,newest is 9) have 410k+ miles and have never had a wrench on any engine, trans or diff other than timimg belts & valve adj.
Did I waste some fluids & money?....probably
Was it worth it to me….YES!!
