Default free mod for a s2k

Just saw a guy with this. It helps a good amount for costing nothing. Just remove airbox completely and when u take off the lid their is a air tunnel rip it off and then u will see a wall on the actual box (bottom half). take the wall off using a saw or anything u can find. then put it all back and it looks the same but now its a totally open box with a filter inside. Thgen if u want just get like a comptech filter and ur set and u only paid 60 for a filter. The box doesnt let the heat from the headers in and the only air funnel thats left is the one that brings the air in to the intake.

The wall is there to catch any water of debris entering the airbox.

I removed the wall when I first got the S (March 2000) and there was no noticable improvement.

I wouldn't advise it.

i think the wall is there smooth out any resonance in the intake air velocity before it gets to the intake pipe. what do you guys think?

also if u look at the air box when its out of the car their is a square hole that leads to a chamber of nothing. I think it is their to take away intake noise so I glued the wall I took off their.

Honda probably spent a good amount of time and money developing the intake. I'm sure it's been optimized on a flow bench to perform well and consistently under most conditions. In a car like the S2000, there isn't much to be gained (except maybe noise) by changing this, unless you're willing to sacrifice something (like power, for instance.) This has been shown by the minimal to nonexistent gains with most aftermarket intakes and exhausts.
