Default Fuel cut/loss/limit under half a tank?

I've had my car for about 6 months now. It is a 2001 model, has around 41k miles, and has never been wrecked (gas tank is stock and perfect). This is a bummer cause I'd like to take it out autocrossing once or twice this next season.

The issue: Whenever I'm at or under half a tank of gas (approximately), the car will sort of stall out when I pull a u-turn hard, do a doughnut, or even accelerate spiritedly (this occurs when I'm closer to E). What is funny is it doesn't actually stall; the motor idles fine, it is more like the ECU is cutting off my throttle input... The car just won't go.

I have yet to check anything because I'm not even sure what to check. Hell, my Civic doesn't starve on r-compounds at the racetrack (far higher g-forces than I'm making in the S) when it has 2 gallons left in the tank.

Any ideas? Weak/bad fuel pump? Dirty filter (highly doubtful)? I'm lost, any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's a well-known starvation issue with the S for autocrossing, especially with sweepers. Some of us have run into it with well over 1/2 tank. Other times an almost empty tank is fine.

You might wanna search the Racing and Competition forum for more details.

Hey, I'm having the same problem. I also have a 2001 with about 33K and it stalls out when I'm under half a tank of gas and after it hits the V-TEC. When I push the clutch in and put it in second and let the clutch out the car stalls out and the RPMs kinda get stuck at about 5000. It just started happening about a month ago. I have no idea whats wrong with it and I really don't know all the technicalities of cars. I would really appreciate it if you let me know if you figure out what the problem is and I'll do the same.
Thanks!!
Lauren

Straight-line fuel starvation will be a different animal compared to while in a turn. You seem to mean that here so I'd surmise various things like fuel filter plugged, fuel pump not supplying enough volume, crimp in a hose or tube someplace, etc.

Just to chip in here:

2003, routinely driven until no bars (~2 gal and change left in the tank) before refueling and never had this issue during any kind of daily or semi-spirited driving or during vtec.
