Funny oil.....

I've searched and found that Mobile 1 is amongst one of the reccommended oils on this board.... but something interesting about my use of it.
The car originally had regular oil, and when I changed to the Mobile 1, I noticed a bit of noise.
When I start the car, there is almost a dull gurrgle, or dim rattle until the car has reached O/T. It never did this with the old oil, or that I noticed, which I assume I would have. Any ideas? I am half tempted to get rid of the Mobile 1, as it has me running a bit scared.
When I purchased the car, the first thing I did, was fire it up (from cold) and shove my head under the hood, and listen to the motor, as well as feel it. I repeated this same step once up to full temperature. The car purrrred when it was cold, and purred when it was warm. Then.... change the oil, and now it has a new sound. Makes me a little leary. Dipstick is reading that it is topped up, so not a low oil deal.
I also had the thought of maybe a bad idler bearing, that just had the timing of the oil change to rear its head? The car only has 27,000km on the clock.
Any ideas, or commonality with anyone else?
Thanks in advance!!
Chad

I can attest to the engine sounds and them going away when the engine reaches operating temperature.
I can also attest to the oil consumption which increases as you increase the intensity of engine use (lots of high reving). I change oil every 5k miles and use about one quart between changes.

Those are not viscosities per se, they are weights and are not particularly helpful since there are 0w30 that have higher ASTM viscosities.
Please forgive my ignorance.
I just replaced my second tensioner.
The first one went out at about 27,000mi and I replaced it at 32,000mi.
The second one went out at 40,000mi and I just replaced it at 42,000mi.
BTW, I bought my car new, and ever since my first oil change I used Mobile1 10w30. Even after the first tct change, I stll put Mobile1 and looks like the noise came back even faster this time.
I just replaced my 2nd tct and I haven't put any oil in yet because I think it is a Mobile1 issue causing the noise. I'm still doing some research what would be best.

The reason the weights are virtually meaningless is that the viscosity is all over the map. Your 0w30 could be vastly superior and have a significantly better viscosity at 100 deg than the factory fill 10w30, or it could be much worse. Go to BITOG and check.
The second issue is even when you are comparing identical oils, the filter valve and bypass is critical to startup protection and noise.
The third issue is that driving conditions vary dramatically. I know people who are lucky to get 3k and others that could go 15k.
There is nothing inherently wrong with group IV oils, such as M1. Try a better filter and run some tests.
