Default Gas Indicator

Anyone had trouble with theres jumping around on them? Not staying steady but for what ever reason 3 tanks worth of gas It jumped around on me so I had to keep calculating how much gas and it was starting to worry me. So right before I posted it has magicly stopped. Did the Fairy Mechanic fix it last nigt or what?

It is possible that there is an interuption in the fuel level signal wire. It could be in the wiring harness - might not be a good connection. Or, it could be the signal wire may be getting pinched somewhere. I have a feeling the situation will return.
Have you ever had any fuel pump work done on the car?

I had the same problem I dunno if its as bad as yours but after driving about 30 mins mine said it had 2 bars left. Then when I started the car again like 3 hours later it said like 5 bars left. Drove all the back home and it said 3 bars left.

Another clarification:
When you say, "jumping around", do you mean it fluctuates up and down over a time frame of seconds or do you mean over a time frame of minutes. If it is minutes, this is normal and is usually confined to the bottom 1/4 of the tank. Seconds, it is not.
