Default Gear lever loose?

My shifter has always been loose since the day I got it (bought used btw). I've never been in any other s2000 so I don't have anyhintg to compare to. I was just wondering how much play should be in it. There's no realy notichness when shifting either. I dunno, maybe this is normal , but I was just curious. If it helps, I could take a short video clip.

Thanks,
Matt

Sounds like a broken or missing shifter tension spring. He used to market a short shift kit which had issues. While it appears he deleted the short shifter from his product line he left a historical article (i..e the installation instructions). This gives a step by step of howto get in and provides detailed photos of what the factory install should look like. The spring is discussed in Step 8. Go to the link and on the left side there will be installation instructions for his various products. Check the one for the short shifter (Axial I believe) and you have all the information you could desire. It is much more detailed then the Helm Manual.

Regards,
Utah

you have the OEM shifter? if so and it was ever taken out, there is a plastic white bushing on the bottom of the shifter stick, its real easy for it to fall out if you ever take out the shifter. you can take yours out and see if its there. only takes a few minutes to check
