e-manage is a piggy back system... so the way it works is that it tricks the factory ecu... a lot of people have had success with it and should be fine for most applications... if you want something that has more features and adjustability then get the AEM EMS... which is a standalone unit... only problem is the price and not a lot of people know how to tune it well... but itll give you good results if done properly
good luck

E-manage is definitely not the 'best', but it's up there in the 'bang for bucks' stakes.
On a stock car all these devices really do is let you lean out your A/F a bit, tune ignition and adjust your VTEC engagement point for a few extra horses.
Where they really come into their own is with mods that change your car's breathing. They allow you to tune to fully take advantage of these mods.
But the E-manage's true strength is for FI as it can overdrive your injectors to add fuel.
So it's pretty versatile, but still a few steps below an AEM. But and AEM costs about $AUD2000 plus freight and duty, so maybe your friend is right from our side of the world.
