Default Greetings...first question

Boy am I honored to join the club....just got my car 2 days ago...spa yellow...spoilers....worked hard for 6 months to get it....the feeling pays off....I love it!....

Ok guys..here goes...im breaking in the car softly...(below 6000rpm)..can anyone please make me feel better about the noises im hearing...well actually...on my second day the clutch feels a lil weird...maybe cause its breaking in or maybe cause ive been driving auto for 4 years, anyways it just feels weird? a bit of vibration feel...also...I get a slight click when I sift to 3rd. Only on this shift up do I get this clicky feel. Also did you guys experience a harsh ride on certain roads at first? Again it could be all me.

Well thanks for any responses guys

Oh Yeah P.S...for you spa yellow owners....is it me or is the front spoiler color a bit off from the body?? Actually I know thats not just me. Can anybody tell me why honda did that?

Thanks a bunch guys

Well, first off welcome...your gonna love her!

Second, all those noises you are noticing are normal and the tick to third gear is also normal and will get better with time.

Third, the reason the yellow is a differnet color on the bumper as opposed to the rest of the body is because the rest of the body is metal and the bumper is plastic and paint adheres to different surfaces differently...it shouldn't look to obvious but, to somone who is looking for it...yes you can notice!

Enjoy bro!

The harsh ride is a relative statement. The suspension seems soft relative to most sports cars. Sports cars mind you. If you switched to this car from a sedan or SUV, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the ride seemed harsh. But hey, if you ask me that is the fun part!

As with any new car, give it time. It takes a while before you really get to know your car. Good choice on the color, and welcome as a new owner.

Check for spring spacers. Just look at your springs on all four corners, if there's a piece or several pieces of black rubber on the springs, remove them. It may take a bit of force, but you should be able to easily remove them by hand. I accidently drove my car for over a week with the spacers installed until I found the S2000 on line forum. The car seemed fine to me with the spacers installed, but man oh man it was so much better once those shipping spring spacers were removed.

Tyler-

Welcome to the board and congrat's on your new ride.

Many, including myself, believe that the manual tranny in the s2000 is one of the best, if not the best in the world. it has amazingly short throws and a very mechanical feel to it. unfortunately, it also means that it passes on some of the drivetrain vibrations etc. by being so well connected to the car.

It is undoubtedly much more visceral than the stick that you're going to find in a Nissan Maxima, for example but that is a good thing in most of our minds.

the vibrations and the third gear snick that you are feeling are perfectly normal. some of us have it to varying degrees (probably due to the high level of hand fabrication for our cars) but in my case the snick in 3rd goes away once the car is warm.

keep up with the break in, check out he frequently asked questions area of this board and put the top back.

hey, sign up for the irivne meet on 8/18 and we'll see you there.

Just bought the S2K, instead of the 3rd gear, noticed this tick/tack sound after driving, this is after the ignition is off.
Have been breaking in the car quite carefully...any advise ..?

That sound would be the metals in engine bay cooling off after a fun drive. The metal expands and contracts during the various temperature ranges it's exposed to. I'll throw out a guess that it's coming from the header, downpipe, catalytic converter, or exhaust. All of my cars do this, but this one is definately more noticeable.

There is a flex additive for the bumper paint that also helps throw off the color - being its a 3-stage paint process, that also means its more expensive than the other colors.
