Head Gasket
by setting the timing at the head do you mean with the cam gear? and it sounds like it wants to start but doesnt crank all the way. I mean it doesnt sound like the battery is dead. I did connect my battery to the charger and it was at 0 charge after it reached 100% i connected the battery back up and it still didnt start. I also changed the plugs and still no start. I just dont think its getting any spark. When my battery was at 100% after I tried to start it twice after it shot back down to 0. I believe thats a sign of a bad battery right.
I know this might be a dumb question but would the valves have anything to do with it. I did adjust them to factory specs with a feeler gauge. and with the milling of the head could they have taken to much off.
It was the timing, that was why the car wouldn't start. I adjusted the timing and now the car starts but there is a new problem. It won't idle. I have to start the car with the gas and hold the gas so that the car won't stall out. any suggestions? My bud did a compression test and all cylinders are firing strong.

The PCM won't operate the ignition coils if the cam timing is off.
