Thumbs up head question between 01'/04'

well i posted about 3 wks ago that i blew my motor and had the compression checked and #3 is bad. anyway i'm rebuilding the motor on my 01' it is s/c so i'm gonna lower the compression with custom pistons. were gonna stroke the engine and put an 04' crank in. MY QUESTION IS WHAT THE DECK HEIGHT IS ON THE 01' HEAD AND THE 04' HEAD. ALSO WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE ROD LENGTH IS ON THEM BOTH ASWELL. PLEASE SOMEONE BE TECHY ENOUGH TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS.

Your question does not make sense. The deck height is measured from center bore of crank to the top of the cylinders and does not involve the head.

You need the pistons, crank and rods from an 04 to get this combo to work. I dunno if it has been done before, but I would be willing to bet that if you replace those parts that everything else would work fine....

I was going to do this, before I discovered that I can just get a much better engine ... in a different type of car..

Chances are you aren't going to find it on here honestly. You will likely have to buy the parts and take the measurment yourself. That's the joy of being one of the first to try something.

I don't know about the '04, but here is some info. on the '01.

Crank Stroke 84 mm (3.307")
Connecting Rod Center to Center Length 153 mm (6.023")
Piston Compression Ht. 30 mm (1.19") * Pin center to deck, not top of dome.
Piston Ht. above deck 0.6mm (0.025") This is an average of two engines that I have checked.

Therefore,

84/2 + 153 + 30 - 0.6 = 224.4 mm (8.835")

This is the distance from the center of the main bearing bore to the top of the block/deck.

I hope this helps.
