how much weight is saved by going with a spoon/mugen/j's/etc header?

depending on the style and maker of the echaust some can see like 40 pounds gone.

a lot of times weight reduction is just as good

The complete OEM header and heat shields don't weigh 24 lbs. It might be pretty hard to loose 40. When I put on the Toda header, this shaved off maybe 10 lbs.

What about if you include the weight savings of changing out the exhaust as well? From what I've heard, the stock dual is quite a chunky piece.

This wasn't the topic at hand but since you asked.
The OEM cat back exhaust weighs about 45 to 50 lbs. An aftermarket light dual can shave maybe 20 to 25 lbs off this. A really light single can shave much more.

Cheap ones like DC Sports are not worth it.

Headers from top JDM tuners, like Mugen, Spoon, Toda, Amuse, J's Racing are well worth it, especially if used in conjunction with a good intake/exhaust.
Is this your personal experience or more Internet hearsay.

I sold my HKS to another member and installed it for him yesterday (why do I always volunteer ). I was once again amazed at how much lighter it is than stock.

I've heard some bad stories about the DC Sports headers but don't know anything directly. But I do know that at the price of those JDM brands they would have to make a whole lot more difference to be worth the extortionate prices they want. I believe the only people who think they are 'worth the money' are the same sort of people who think Louis Vuitton is good value.

I know a local S2000 owner who had the DC Sports header with a Neuspeed exhaust and lost power versus the OEM setup on the dyno.

Also if you look at the quality of a DC Sports header versus Amuse, lets say... the Amuse piece puts it to shame.

Is that good enough for you?
