Default Headlight Problem

Driving down smooth, bump free road, my driver's side headlight has started to just turn off. After I notice, I can flip it off for a second and then back on and it comes back on just fine. Then after another minute or two, bam, off again. Both high beams work, just the left low beam is the problem. Can anybody eliminate the possibilities for me? Sounds more like a ballast probably but I'm not too sure and I just went outside and it looks like the entire bumper and headlight have to come off to access the bulb/ballast?

thanks

Swap bulbs side to side, see if the problem follows the bulb.

I'm not sure if the S has separate ignitors from the ballast, but sounds like its either the ballast or the ignitor to me. Something inside probably heating up and loosening up the electrical connection. Once you turn it off it cools down and connects again. If it was the bulb it would probably just go out and stay out.

well it looks as though it is the bulb. i swapped bulbs today and the previous light that would go out, stayed on this time.

anybody know of a different brand of maybe universal HID bulbs they have used before that don't cost 142 dollars a piece?
