Sharptone installs the same way
Thank you for posting the details of how you installed your supertones. I just did the same method with my sharptones, These are the newer model: yellow with a blue diaphragm and have a combined higher pitch. I had no problem using the stock install locations and did not need to use the backside of the under-hood bracket for the unit to fit. They are smaller in size over Supertones. I chose to install the lower frequency horn under the hood.
I had good thick wire on hand and plenty of split sheath and cable ties for a neat appearance. I even found a 20A fuse and holder in my collection of odds and ends. Only thing I had to buy was a set of female terminals - a $2.50 package of blue ones from Walmart.

One or both horns
In listening to the car when I lock it with the key fob, it sounds like the short honk is only one horn. Anyone know if that's true? Or do i need separate relays for each horn?

Early ap1, single horn. Later cars dual horns (high and low tone). Not sure when the switchover, but second horn is right in front of passenger side shock tower (first horn is in grill area).
If you have dual horn model, maybe one horn became unplugged or went bad.

Not surprising as the photos are from 15 (fifteen) years ago -- 2004.
Both the High and Low horns are controlled by the same contact on the horn relay. No indication you can select which sounds or that any modules can select just one horn. Ya get both or none. All the wiring references I can see refer to dual horns so transition from 1 to 2 was probably very early.
