Default Hella Supertones Install- Need Help

I just replaced my Fiamm air horns with Supertones. I think I have wired something the wrong way. The sound resembles the stock horn-not what I expected (road runner "meep-meep"). I thought they would be louder than the air horns. My first guess is that I should use the ground from the battery instead of the ground bundle. I haven't checked to compare the voltage on the horns to the alternator yet.

Does anyone who installed these horns have any input or direction for me?

I believe it goes like this (in order of loudness)

2000-2001 stock
aftermarket (at least Hella)
2002 stock <-- way louder than my Hella. Honda listened.
Supertone
2-tube airhorn
3-tube airhorn

The horns in my '02 were embarassing at best. The double trumpet Fiamm's have that strained rooster sound, not to mention a delayed reaction. Very disappointing. I thought these were "serious" horns.

While I can't answer about which is louder (only that my triples are good enough for me), I can say that your ground connection makes no difference between the bundle and the actual battery.

Asura - I have been very pleased with my Fiamm 2-trumpet airhorns. They've been installed in my car for over 16 months. If there was a delay between when you press the horn button and when you hear the horn, it sounds like you had either a loose hose or there was contamination in one or both trumpets. HTH

If the horns are working, then the only other thing to check is make sure they are wired in parallel, not series. You need 12 volts at both horns. If they are in series, you would only get 6 volts to each.

I also have the Hella Supertones. I was slightly disappointed at there loudness. They sound much nicer than stock, just not real loud. I have compared them to another car with them and they are identical. Chances are you have it right...

Nope. There are two different Hellas. The base horn was like $40. The Supertones were like $60. (from memory) I just wanted SUVs to notice me. Nothing too loud. They are much better than the 2000-2001 stock horns though.
