Default Help! Car wont go into fifth gear

After regreasing my shifter and putting everything back together, my car will not go into fifth gear. It goes into every other gear just fine, including reverse. Im pretty sure theres only one way to put it back in, i even tried taking it out and putting it back with no success.

In neutral the shifter goes too far to the right and barely to the left. I think the shifter may be bent. I can get into fifth if i go directly from fourth. If i try to go from neutral to fifth it wont go in.

Was it working fine before you took it out? If yes then you didn't put it back correctly.

Yes, it was working fine before. I pretty much took it out to replace the two plastic pieces on the shifter. However, when my dad was helping me taking out the bigger plastic piece, he had one end on the floor while hitting it with a flathead. That is what makes me think something may have bent. It may be me, but after putting the shift knob on, it doesnt sit perfectly straight. Neutral also feels weird, it is able to move all the way to the right, and only a little to the left. Other then that, it shifts fine.

You are certain that you overcame the spring tension, and torqued the three 10mm bolts evenly? I cannot think of any other reason for the symptoms you describe. And you're right, it only goes in one way.

I can't imagine why it wouldn't work right.

Im pretty sure thats whats wrong, but i wanted to make sure. Ill take pics of the shifter. Is there any way id be able to fix this or would i need another shifter?
Edit: Something weird i just noticed; I can put the car in reverse without pushing down.
